Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
The law protects the confidential relationship between a client and a psychotherapist and information cannot legally be disclosed to another party without written permission.
Exceptions include:
- Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse, which I am required by law to report to the appropriate authorities.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I am required to notify the police and potentially inform the intended victim.
- If a client intends to harm themselves, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in insuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I must legally take further measures, even without their permission, to ensure their safety if at all possible.
